Project Lead Truck
Special Olympics 2010

UPDATE:  Thank you to all of our generous donors this year.
Unfortunately, we experienced mechanical problems en route
to the Convoy this year and had to return to the museum.
We'll post more details on what we find when we tear into it.
It was a problem related to the steering, with excessive play in
the left front wheel.  It's likely a problem with the bearing or
king pin.  We were very disappointed that we couldn't make it,
but it never pays to take a chance.  The donations we received
are being forwarded to the Special Olympics of Missouri office
to Jennifer Brown with SOMO.

The Special Olympics of Missouri and the local law enforcement
were very impressed with our collective effort and the athletes and
their families were thankful (and tearful) that the winning bid came
not from a big company, but from everyday people that cared.

While last year our initial motivation was based on an offensive
comment, we are pledging to do this and make it an annual event.

The 2010 Special Olympics Convoy will take place on September
18, 2010.  St. Louis will again participate, along with dozens of
other cities.  What I am asking you to do is to donate whatever you
can for a great cause to show not just our President, but everyone,
that the Special Olympics is and forever will be a cause for
celebration rather than the punch line to a joke.

Please give whatever you can, even if it is $1.  I also ask that you
please pass this on to your friends and everyone you know and ask
them to give what they can as well.

These donations will be 100% tax deductible as they are being
made payable to Special Olympics.
 I am receiving absolutely no
benefit from this whatsoever.  By filling out
this Special Olympics
donation form and including it with your donation, your donation will
be registered with Special Olympics once the donations are
provided to the Special Olympics on September 18, 2010.  In other
words, please be sure to remember that
these checks will be
cashed by the Special Olympics on or after September 18, 2010.

DO NOT SEND CASH!!!!!

It should also be noted that while the lead truck donation is a
"highest bidder only" style of donation,
100% of the received
donations for this effort will be presented to Special Olympics
,
regardless of our success or failure to be the highest bidder.

Further, the names will be posted on this News page once received
until after the Convoy is complete.  This will help verify the receipt of
your donation and make this process 100% transparent.

To participate, please send your donation

OLYMPICS"
