I have made several updates and corrections throughout, specifically to RD's truck page, Pig Pen's truck page and the Bruhn truck page. I also corrected the problem with the link to the Links page. I had no clue it was out of whack. I hope you enjoy the new information.
THE REAL DEAL
Since the start-up of this tiny website in 2002, I have recieved thousands of e-mails requesting more information or places to find things relating to Convoy or the trucks. I thank all of you who take the time to write me and apologize to those whom I have been unable to reply to due to time constraints.
Everyone once in a while, though, something interesting pops up and I wanted to pass this along to you, take if for what you will.
I was contacted recently by Johnny Bruhn of the Bruhn family whose trucks were used in the movie. Johnny stated that he has one of the 4 original Duck hood ornaments used in the movie. He stated that he was looking to sell the Duck emblem, two bullet holes and all, to the highest bidder. This Duck was apparently the one on the truck that was sent into the river in Needles, CA.
We talked for a while on the phone, and from what he knows and the detail he provides about the production of the movie, I have no reason to doubt that he is anyone other than whom he claims to be. The pictures he sent me were obviously taken by someone present at the production. However, in the interest of protecting all parties involved, I will attempt to mediate any requests and monitor the validity of any transactions.
I have agreed to post his openness to bids on this website, but I make ABSOLUTELY NO GUARANTEE OR WARRANTY IN ANY WAY SHAPE OR FORM as to the potential sale of the Duck. I will not post his asking price, but I will tell you that the price is geared to the ultra-high end collector. If you are interested, please e-mail me at rd690s2002@yahoo.com and I will forward your information to him.
If you or someone you know has special memorabilia or pictures that you would like to post on this website, please drop me a line. I recieve no monetary compensation whatsoever for this website and therefore cannot pay for photos, so don't even ask! I will, however, be tickled pink to give you full credit where credit is due.
Replica Update:
My real RS786LST RD truck is coming along well. I have gathered all of the crude necessary parts, with the exception of the Able Body sleeper. The bull bar turned out great, but now I'm getting ready to get down and dirty and work on the chassis. We hope to have the full working replica on the highways of St. Louis Missouri by late spring of 2005. With some luck, we will have the truck at the ATHS truck show in Auburn Indiana on Memorial Day 2005. Once I am done, I'll post the play-by-play pictures of the project and the details of how-to for anyone else stupid enough to pull of a stunt and waste of money like this.! So far, we're at the $31,000 mark and counting.
